As noted the answer to the question as asked is a firm no.
It's a perennial question and easy to find on the Internet. Reasons may include saving money and dealing with restrictions that make just buying another pistol difficult to impossible.
For the best general discussion of the subject I know of see The Custom Government Model Pistol by Layne Simpson. The book suggests, rightly, that going one step as .45 ACP to 10 MM is reasonable and swaps within a bore size as 9x19, .38 Super and 9x23 to which one might add 9mm Largo and 9mm Steyr and any number of lessor know cartridges can be quite easy. Notice that rim sizes as between 9x19 and .38 Super can vary a little, good smiths will do multi caliber pistols, it takes a deft touch to make a multi caliber extractor to bet your life on.
