has anyone ever or still use sea-foam to get carbon out of a dirty carbon barrel ? someone on here brought it up about using sea-foam on the top of car pistons to clean pistons , so now i am wondering would that work on rifle barrels full of carbon and if it did it should improve accuracy ? i use wipe -out now but if sea-foam worked ? who knows ? thanks,Pete53

Yes, I have used seafoam and can say it works reasonably well on powder fouling.
If you can't be a good example, may you at least serve as a dreadful warning

It should. Hadn't thought about it before. But it should.

I use Mercury Quicksilver power tune and Amzoil Foaming Engine Cleaner to remove fouling in the past, works quite well actually , and I think Sinclair still sells Mercury Quicksilver in their online store. I run a patch through and let it sit for a few minutes before going after the copper fouling in a barrel. Cat
scopes are cool, but slings 'n' irons RULE!

I use Wipe-out and an ultrasonic cleaner to clean my suppressors. I guess I should try Seafoam instead.

I have used Wipe-Out and Sea Foam to remove carbon. I like the Wipe-Out better.

Hand sanitizer, the foaming kind is my favorite.

Wipe Out is a good powder fouling and copper fouling solvent. IME it does nothing to remove carbon fouling

Pete, Sorry I should have said Free All not Wipe Out. I’ve had better luck using Free All for carbon removal than I ever have Sea Foam.

Good to know. Maybe I'll give it a try on some stubborn carbon in some of my barrels. Thanks Pete for taking my question in another thread and making it it's own post.

I tried Seafoam once and wasn't impressed. It worked but there are much better products out there.

If you read the instructions for Dyna-Tech Bore Coat, the method for prepping a barrel is about as good as it gets: wrap a patch around a bronze brush, coat it with JB Bore Compound (I use Flitz) and give it 100 turns up and back, changing patches and refreshing the goo several times.
Very little will stand up to that treatment.
